Frame It Forward is the newest campaign from Pakistan’s Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, aimed at giving voice to untold and impactful grassroots stories. With an open application deadline until July 25, 2025, this initiative offers a unique opportunity for NGOs and community groups across Pakistan to showcase their missions through high-quality, professionally produced short films — at no cost.
What Is Frame It Forward?
This campaign is part of SOC Films’ commitment to meaningful storytelling. Chinoy believes many transformative projects and community efforts remain unseen simply because they aren’t documented. Through this initiative, SOC Films will select one outstanding story and release it as a short documentary on August 14, celebrating the spirit of resilience and progress in Pakistan.
Who Can Apply?
Any grassroots organization, nonprofit, or community initiative working in areas like:
- Education
- Climate change
- Wildlife and environmental protection
- Refugee assistance
- Children’s rights
- Public health
- Gender equality
…is encouraged to apply. The chosen project will be professionally filmed by SOC Films, gaining national and international visibility.
Chinoy’s Legacy in Social Storytelling
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is known not only for her Academy Awards but also for elevating local issues to the global stage. Her recent Her Earth Advocates programme brought together 10 female filmmakers from across Pakistan to document the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities.
She has worked with respected organizations such as ChildLife Foundation, KDSP, and Indus Hospital to produce documentaries that support social causes without any production costs to the NGOs.
How to Apply
The application process is open and simple. Organizations must submit their proposals to SOC Films by July 25, 2025. Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews and documentation support.
