KARACHI: Governor of Sind province Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has opened Karachi’s the biggest fish aquarium in Landhi-Korangi Zooon Tuesday.
The Fish Aquarium which is housed in the Landhi-Korangi Zoo had been established with a cost of Rs 30 million, where colourful fish of over 50 different species are kept in 48 glass aquariums. Ninety percent of these fish imported.
The governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad stressed the need for more recreation and sports facilities with the infrastructure development works in the metropolis He expressed the hope that renovated Landhi-Korangi Zoo and Fish Aquarium would provide good recreation facilities to people in the city.
He said that this is the second zoo in Karachi that has been renovated and more animals and birds are being inducted for making it more attractive and informative for the citizens.
Dr. Ibad directed to improve the standard of swings in the zoo with installation of more modern swings for children visiting the zoo. He also stressed the need for induction of more new animals and birds in the zoo.
The administrator of Zoo’s said that the renovation and renewal works in Karachi Zoo and Landhi-Korangi Zoo would continue without any break and Landhi Sports Complex would also be completed in the current month to provide more sports facilities to people in Landhi and Korangi.
He further said that the construction of a world-class football stadium at Kashmir Road Sports Complex and Sindh Snooker Academy would also be started in this month.
This will definitely be a hit especially for a place now known for its marine life. 50 species is still quite small but it?s a good start in renovating and building a good fish aquarium facility.
