Dr Shama Khalid is a leading social worker who voluntarily worked in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan by establishing free summer medical camps every year.
President Zardari had appointed Dr Shama Khalid as the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan on 23rd March 2010.
She became the second female Governor of any province in Pakistan first was Begum Rana Liaqat Ali Khan who became governor of Sindh back in the early days.
Dr. Shama Khalid says that establishment of peace, women empowerment, removal of corruption and development of education and tourism is her main priorities.
