Kashmir News – Frustration mounts among Unemployed in Gilgit Baltistan

Posted on July 11, 2010

Gilgit, January 19: Pakistan has been in a quagmire in 2009. Worse even for the people of Occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Coming out of the shadow of a year that virtually brought no change to the way of life in these regions; the people especially the youth say they have little to hope in the New Year.

That?s not good for Pakistan. When everything start working swiftly, they imposed drifts. I dont know about Talibani, but yes I know, it was America who planted that seed and that Talibanis now destroying Pakistan and its occupied regions also.

Gilgits political spectrum has rejected the elections.

Despite being rich in natural resources, this region remains mired in extreme poverty and backwardness, with a pervasive absence of even basic amenities.

Another propaganda. Why don’t you talk about Jammu Kashmir?

The people of Indian occupied Kashmir should get the right to take decision. So that they can decide that they want to make independent Kashmir or join with own Pakistani brothers.

This is pure propaganda by Indian reporter.

The employees of forest department shouldn’t worry, Pakistan governement will take care of them.

Employees of Muzaffarabad and neighbouring Neelam Valley burnt retrenchment orders following the decision of Pakistan government to shutdown the Forest Department.

80% of employees of forest department are from Muzaffarabad and Neelam Valley.

The unemployed are even seen carrying their degree and later when they cannot find jobs they become gun-trotting terrorists.

    Dear Channel Reporter,

Please visit Azad Kashmir once, before showing such confusing and baseless reports.

Because no considerable move was made to empower the local population, who have been at the mercy of Islamabad.

Gilgit-Baltistan practically remained invisible from the world for more than half a century.

I am a law graduate and after graduation I tried a lot for a job but till today I am out of work, simply because I dont have any links. Those who have are on very high posts today.

Here, the salaries of those lucky few who manage to get a placement are about 25 per cent less than their counterparts in Islamabad.

Furthermore, the bureaucracy, primarily drawn from Pakistans North-West Frontier Province and eastern Punjab, has intensified the sense of alienation and negated any semblance of self-rule.

  20. Manav1963 says:
    July 12, 2010 at 3:11 am

The region continues, to be directly administrated by Islamabad. The new ordinance reinforces the constitutional limbo within which Gilgit-Baltistan exists and only brings “a change in nomenclature rather than genuine political reforms”.

  21. wekashmiri says:

A provincial election on November 12th purported to “help bring the region at par with the rest of the country” has however failed to secure the slightest enthusiasm of the people of this unhappy land.

People should know that controversial PM and President have given the package then it is a controversial package. How can you call it even a constitutional package?

With rising inflation, unemployment has also increased. Educated people are suffering. They are not getting any jobs because of which many of them are working as migrant labourers in Rawalpindi.
