Women Reclaim the Road: Female-Led Travel in Pakistan
By Travel & Culture Services – August 3, 2025
In July 2024, under the stars in Skardu, a group of women counted twelve shooting stars in just forty minutes. They returned again two nights later — swapping cinema plans for another quiet evening of stargazing.
These moments define The Cherry Club, a women-only luxury wellness retreat hosted at the Byrsara Hotel. Founded by Sawab Husnain, who grew up in Skardu, the club offers slow, soulful experiences like guided walks to Upper Kachura Lake’s hidden gems.
A Space Curated for Women
With group sizes growing from ten to over thirty participants in just one year, The Cherry Club fosters intentional travel. Solo male travelers are excluded; mixed groups are considered only through referral or family ties — ensuring safety, comfort, and trust.
Women Shaping Pakistan’s Tourism
Since the pandemic, women-led travel has surged nationwide — from Skardu to Hunza. They’re hosting tours, running retreats, launching cafés, and offering wellness workshops tailored to women’s journeys.
New offerings include:
- Safe group retreats
- Wellness and art therapies
- Solo travel in historic regions
This evolution reflects a deeper movement toward entrepreneurship, identity, and access.
