About NAPA
The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) is Pakistan’s premier institution for professional training in theatre, music, and dance. Established in 2005, NAPA offers conservatory-style education led by seasoned practitioners and visiting maestros. Its Theatre Arts Department runs a rigorous 3-year diploma program, preparing students for careers in acting, direction, and production.
Historic Location – Hindu Gymkhana
NAPA is housed in the iconic Hindu Gymkhana, a protected heritage site built in 1925. Designed by Agha Ahmed Hussain in Mughal-Revival style, the building features cupolas, chattris, and carved stonework inspired by Emperor Akbar’s Fatehpur Sikri. Originally a social club for Karachi’s Hindu elite, the structure now serves as a vibrant cultural hub, hosting performances, workshops, and festivals.
