Pak Tea house the popular siting of poets and writers in Lahore, has been re-opened after about 13 years. This tea house was established in 1940 by the name of India Tea house. It was renamed as Pak Tea house after the partition. It was central place for writers poets and thinkers who used to come here to chat and discuss issues around the area. These discussions had influenced the literature of the region.
According to writer Ata Ul Haq Qasmi “from around the world when any literary personality used to come to Lahore he/she used to come to Pak Tea house because it was sure that whom ever he wanted to meet up with will defiantly be found here. This was the Vatican of all poets and writers but since it was shut down our discussions and meets were shut down. The writers were separated It was as if the bird was astray from its herd.
Lahore’s litrary circles were demanding the opening of Pak Tea house for several years, now when all the political parties in the country are preparing for the upcoming elections literature gurus voice has also been heard and the present government of Punjab has renovated the Pak tea house for the general public and literary circles.
Pak tea house was decorated in the modern but carefully aesthetic style by the Government of Punjab. While opening the project chief of Muslim League Nawaz Mr. Nawaz Sharief said the value of Pak Tea house is no less than the value of Lahore Metro bus project.
Poetess Sughra Sadaf said that Pak Tea house renovated in such nice way that it can be compared to 5 star restaurants, it has become even more beautiful than before, today is a great day for the literary circles of Lahore.
