Pakistan Army’s Colonel Arif Mehmood (Late) laid down his life while making a daring attempt to save the lives of his soldiers in a rescue operation at Attabad Lake, Hunza on 19 May 2011. Although he was Commander Frontier Works Organization of Attabad Lake Project., he himself went in to save his men despite very risky & dangerous circumstances. Colonel Arif’s sacrifice is an example of the norm in Pakistan Army of leading from the front. – “And say not of those who die in the cause of Allah as dead.
