The?minaret?of Masoom Shah is an example of late Muslim architecture of Sindh. Built by Syed Nizamuddin Mir Mohammad Masoom Shah?Bakhri in 1607AD. Masoom Shah was a historian and the?governor?of Sukkur appointed by the Moghul?emperor?Akbar.
He had a great interest in art architecture and?literature? He was also one of the most well known historian of Sindh. He wrote a detailed history of Sindh called “Tareekh e Masoomi”
The Minerat of Masoom Shah was built to guard the the towns of Sukkur & Bakhar. The Minerat is built with red bricks in Conical shape with a watching area on top and stairs from within the?minaret?to reach the top.
There are 84 stps and the height of minerat is 31 meters there are spectacular views of the city of Sukkur and the river Indus from the minerat. It is said that Mir Masoom shah regularly used to sit on top and guard the town of Sukkur.
Mir Masoom shah was also?buried?at the foot of this?minaret. There are?beautiful?verses of Quraan carved in Stone on his and other tombs in this area.
