Pakistan Floods 2025: Multan Flood Situation and Rising Threat in Sindh

Posted on September 7, 2025

The flood situation in Multan’s Jalalpur Pirwala has worsened, forcing authorities to request the assistance of the Pakistan Army. According to CPO Sadiq Ali, a large-scale rescue operation is currently underway in the affected areas.

Rescue Operations in Multan

The Pakistan Army has deployed 14 rescue boats, while Rescue 1122 teams are operating with 8 boats. In addition, police have arranged 5 private boats to speed up relief efforts. Altogether, 27 boats are actively engaged in rescuing stranded people from flood-hit villages. Authorities confirmed that every possible measure is being taken to protect human lives.

Punjab Flood Impact

According to Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the ongoing floods have affected 25 districts and more than 4,155 villages in Punjab. Speaking to the media in Lahore, he said that since August 26, at least 56 deaths have been reported due to flood-related incidents across the province.

Relief operations are in full swing with 60,000 to 70,000 people currently sheltered in emergency camps. The PDMA has also set up around 500 medical camps, where nearly 150,000 people have received medical treatment so far.

Floods Moving Towards Sindh

While Punjab continues to face destruction, experts have warned that floodwaters are now moving towards South-East Sindh province. The evolving situation raises concerns of possible large-scale damage in the upcoming days. Sindh’s low-lying areas, especially along the Indus, are being closely monitored, and authorities are urging communities in Kacha areas to prepare for evacuation if necessary.

A Nationwide Crisis

The devastating floods of 2025 once again highlight the ever-changing and fragile climate situation in Pakistan. Torrential rains, overflowing rivers, and flash floods have put tremendous pressure on provincial disaster management authorities. With Punjab already facing major losses and Sindh now under threat, the government and military are intensifying coordination to minimize human and material losses.

As the situation continues to unfold, residents in flood-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant, follow evacuation orders, and cooperate with rescue teams.
