ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that China is opening the Khunjrab Border on 1 April 2022, which will help local commerce on both sides of the border.
He took to Twitter and asserted that it will also help with the implementation of the second phase of the Pakistan-China Free Trade Agreement.
“Especially the fruit and vegetable exporters from the north side of Pakistan. I urge the exporters to take advantage of this opportunity and increase their exports to China,” said the advisor.
In November 2019, the Khunjerab Pass was closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus between the two countries.
The pass was temporarily opened between July and September 2020, and then again in November 2021, to allow for the transit of containers loaded with products that had become trapped in China.
During the temporary border opening, stranded Chinese containers were unloaded at Khunjerab Top rather than the port at Sost.
