From Poland to Khewra Salt mines

Posted on January 3, 2014

In the south of Poland is the largest salt mine of the world the… the 200 years old mine is not used any more for dinging salt but it is used for musical and other social programs from time to time. Besides that 1000’s of tourists visit it daily so much so that one french writer calls it as important a tourist attraction as is the pyramids of Egypt.

This 200 kilometers long mne has now a museum, a church, fine dining restaurants and much more. It will be impossible to see it all in a day. UNESCO has givin it the status of world heritage.

Now lets go to Pakistan where the 2nd largest mine is located in Khewra. The 100 years old electric train is available to take the tourists thru the mine, but there not much to be seen here except a small mosque, there are wather botles and wrapers of chips every where.

When compared with Poland it seems Pakistan has not done any marketing at all for its mine, but there are still few hundreds of tourists who come to visit the mine daily.
