Karachi airport is known for hosting aero planes from Pacific to Atlantic needing emergency services, refueling and medical emergencies. This time Karachi airport hosted World’s largest and heaviest cargo aircraft Antonov AN-225 for refueling and giving rest for the crew of the plane. Although this was not the first time it landed in the hospitable Karachi It had also visited Karachi back in July 2018 when it had an emergency landing for re-fueling.
This time it was the crucial time when the US is exiting from Afghanistan and many Antonov planes are being used some landed in Islamabad also.
The Antonov 125 landed in Karachi on 22nd June carrying 3 helicopters of British Royal Airforce and landed in Karachi for refueling and giving rest to the crew members. The flight stayed at the Quaid E Azam International airport for 21 hours and took off for its destination RAF Brize Norton in the UK.
