KARACHI, Dec 26 Sindh Golf Association (SGA) is planning to hold five different golfing events next year including the revival of Sindh Inter Club Golf Team competition next year.
Secretary of SGA, Ahmed Abdul Bari said on Friday. ?We are looking to revive the provincial inter club competition for the promotion and development of the game,? he said.
Bari said top clubs of the city including Karachi Golf Club, Arabian Sea Country, DHA Club, Dreamworld Golf Club and Resort and clubs like Sindh Club, Boat Club, Karachi Gymkhana, Karachi Club with no golfing facilities would be invited to play in two-day 36-hole contest.
He hoped that the restart of Inter Club competition will help in expanding it scope the game.
He said like in the past, besides new activities, Sindh Governors Cup, SGA Cup, Sindh Open and Sindh Amateur will be main four events to be contested during the year 2009. ?We working on the dates and venues for the new year,? he added.
?Our mission is to prepare to unearth young talent from the schools and take the game in other clubs of the city,? he said. ?Junior golf is non existence and by generating interest among the junior a lot of players can be prepared,? he said.
He said a programme will be launched and management of schools in Karachi Grammar School, City School, Beaconhouse, St.Pats, Habib Public School and other interested institution will be approached and they will be invited at SGC Academy at KGC for training an using golfing facilities.
Abdul Bari said a comprehensive plan is being prepared for the purpose and would launched in the first quarter of the year.
Earlier a meeting of SGA was held among Secretary, Vice President Asad I.A.Khan and Joint Secretary Zahir Chaudhry Zahir to work out lan for the play for next year.
