Baily Bridge in Gilgit river constructed

Bailey bridge on Gilgit River, constructed by Chinese Road Bridge Construction Company (CRBC) and National Highway Authority engineers after the collapse of RCC Bridge on August 10, was opened to traffic on November 30, 2008. The Chief Secretary Northern Areas, Mr.

Babar Yaqub Fateh Muhammad, Chief Secretary Northern Areas ?inaugurated the 150 meter long and 4 meter wide bridge. The CRBC & NHA was committed to construct the Bailey bridge within 90 days and they completed this bridge in 80 days. The Bailey bridge is capable to bear 30 tons burden.

The next phase is Pak-China friendship tunnel is being to be established some 30 kilometers off Sost Gojal, to facilitate the people of Pakistan and China, the tunnel is part of the ongoing projects of expansion of Karakuram Highway and the length of this tunnel is about 480 meter long and the project would be completed within the period of one year.
