Presiden Musharaf promotes tourism to Pakistan

January 16th, 2007

Jan 14th 2007 During the opening of the Lahore marathon President Musharraf’s said that the country needs to reject extremism is some thing that is agreeable by any one.

This was an ongoing effort to promote tourism in Pakistan and bring th country’s brighter image to the world. Lahore Marathon was a great success this year however there were no tourists except 2 tourists from Travel & Culture Services which promoted the Marathon on its web site http://www.travel-culture.com/tours/lahoremarathon.shtml

Pakistan has a lot of potential of tourism but the Government needs to put more efforts in promotion and giving facilities to the tourism companies. The hotel rates in pakistan are way too high than many countries specially in the big cities like Lahore Karachi slamabad & peshawar.

. Also, the assertion by many senior officials that the marathon will be good for the country’s image seems to have become a bit stale because of over-use — also it is not entirely accurate because many other more important things, if attended to by our governments, would help improve the country’s image in a more significant and concrete manner. However, some credit should be given where it is due and for that the Lahore city administration and the Punjab government should be given a pat on the back for conducting the race, despite what happened last year thanks to the MMA. Of course, the support that the race and other related sporting and cultural activities have been getting from the presidency of late is crucial in making such events possible.

There are many other events organised by the government of Pakistan for visit Pakistan 2007 which are listed at http://www.travel-culture.com/visitpakistan
